CUET Entrance Exam is the Pan-Indian exam for admissions into the major central universities of the country. This exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency and the guidelines are set by the University Grants Commission. This exam is for admission into the 40+ Central Universities of the country and 13 other institutes. However, various private universities also accept this score. Therefore, it becomes imperative for a candidate to take this test.

  • Students have to attempt from three sections of which the last one is not compulsory.
  • The CUET Entrance Exam has both objective and descriptive types of questions.
  • After the test is over, candidates can download scorecards and attend the CUET counselling session of different participating universities.
  • The entrance exam is a computer based test.

How to apply for CUET Entrance Exam?

NTA will stop accepting applications for CUET by 6th May, 2022. Thus make sure that you have applied before this deadline. The steps to apply are listed below.

Step 1: First, visit the official website of CUET. 

Step 2: The candidates will be redirected to the official homepage of the CUET.

Step 3: Check the top of the homepage for the “e-services” section. You will get the CUET Application form 2022 option, click on it.

Step 4: Upon clicking the link, the candidates will be redirected to the Registration page of the CUET.

Step 5: Thereafter, the candidates can register themselves using their phone numbers and email address.

Step 6: You will get a Registration Number. Use this to login again to the portal.

Step 7: Fill in all the necessary details. Then, proceed to pay the application fee.

Step 8: Recheck your application form again and click on submit button.

Step 9: In the end, the candidate can download the CUET Application Form PDF on their device and take a printout of the same for future reference.

CUET Entrance Exam: Eligibility Criteria

The basic eligibility criteria for the exam is that candidates must have passed Class 12th from a recognized school board. However, some CUET eligibility criteria may vary for different courses and universities, so the candidates must visit the official websites of the universities. However, just passing the entrance test, does not guarantee admission to the programme unless the candidate fulfills the eligibility conditions of the university to which they are applying to.

Some general criteria includes

  • Candidates must have passed Class 12th from a recognized school board.
  • Candidates who failed in one or two subjects in Class 12th will be considered ineligible to apply for CUET 2022.

  • The exam is a multiple-choice question paper consisting of 180 questions.
  • The exam is divided into three parts i.e. Section IA and IB, Section II and Section III.
  • Section IA and IB tests the grip of students in two Languages, and has 80 questions.
  • Section II consists of Domain Knowledge includes Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, etc of 40 questions.
  • Section III is not compulsory and consists of a General Test of 60 questions. It has subjects like General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability and Quantitative Reasoning.
  • This will be a computer based exam.
  • While the duration of the first two sections are 45 minutes each, the duration of the third one is 60 minutes.
  • For each wrong answer, there will be a deduction of 0.25 marks.

Section IA and IB

This section is meant to test the fluency of students in at least two languages. This is the syllabus of the section. Note that it will be the same for all the subjects.
