Nobel Laureates in Medicine 2022: According to the will of Swedish inventor and industrialist Alfred Bernhard Nobel, the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine is awarded “to those who, during the preceding year, shall have conferred the greatest benefit on mankind” in the fields of physiology or medicine. The Karolinska Institute in Stockholm bestows it. The Nobel Laureates in Medicine 2022, as well as a list of all previous winners, including the first Nobel Laureate in Medicine, can be found here. Emil von Behring received the first Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1901 for his work on serum therapy, particularly its application against diphtheria, by which he opened a new path in the domain of medical science and thus placed a victorious weapon in the hands of the physician.
