Chess Olympiad Winners 2022: The 44th Chess Olympiad will take place in Chennai, India. It will be held from 26th July to 8th August 2022. More than 150 countries participate in the FIDE Chess Olympiad. Every year, a new country hosts it. However, in the years 2021 and 2020, it was held in online mode due to the pandemic.

- The International Federation of Chess was created at the closing day of the first unofficial Chess Olympiad on 20th July 1924 in Paris.
- Later, the federation organized the first-ever official Chess Olympiad in 1927 in London. During this, 16 teams participated.
- The first Women’s Chess Olympiad was held in 1957. It was held at Emmen, Holland
- So far, India has won one gold medal jointly with Russia in the year 2020
- Russia has the maximum number of gold medals which is 18 in number
