Armed forces Flag Day Fund – Check out the Details

It is our duty to honour the martyrs and surviving heroes who suffered injuries while doing their responsibilities, as well as their families who played a key role in this sacrifice. Aside from the actions taken by the federal and state governments, every member of our nation has a responsibility to contribute in any way possible to the care, assistance, rehabilitation, and financial support of others. The importance of caring for our veterans with disabilities, Veer Naris, and the families of martyrs who gave their life in defence of the nation is highlighted on Flag Day. Since 1949, December 7 has been commemorated nationwide as Armed Forces Flag Day to honour the martyrs and the personnel in the military who bravely fought and still fight to defend the honour of their country on its frontiers.

• Through volunteer organisations, the fund-collecting is coordinated using both official and informal methods. 
• The AFFDF, which is used to give money to poor ex-service members, war widows, and their dependents, as well as the institutions involved in their rehabilitation, are administratively under the authority of the Kendriya Sainik Board. 
• The Managing Committee, led by the Honourable Raksha Mantri and includes three Service Chiefs, the Secretary of Defence, the Secretary of Ex-Servicemen Welfare/MoD, and other top Central Government officials, is responsible for managing the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. 

Indian Armed Forces

The armed forces of the Republic of India are known as the Indian Armed Forces (Devanagari: , Bhratya Saastra Snn). They are made up of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, which are backed up by paramilitary forces (such as the Indian Coast Guard, Assam Rifles, and Special Frontier Force) and a number of inter-service organisations, including the Strategic Forces Command. The Indian President serves as the Indian Armed Forces’ Supreme Commander. 

• The Ministry of Defence (MoD), which is overseen by the Union Cabinet Minister of Defense, is responsible for managing the Indian Armed Forces. 
• It ranks as the fourth largest military force in the world with a total of approximately 4.7 million people. 
• The Indian armed forces have participated in a number of significant military actions, including the Kargil War, the Siachen Conflict, the Sino-Indian War, the Indo-Pakistani Wars of 1947, 1965, and 1971, the Portuguese-Indian War, and the Sino-Indian War. 

Every year on December 7, Armed Services Flag Day, India pays tribute to its armed forces and military personnel. Since 1962, the IAF has maintained close military ties with Russia, working together to develop projects like the Multirole Transport Aircraft and the Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft (FGFA) (MTA). The Indian military forces are continuously being modernized, with expenditures being made on a nuclear triad and a missile defence system, among other things.

Armed Forces Flag Day’s Importance

• On this day, a deliberate attempt is made to solicit donations from the general public. Through print and electronic media, the Day 7’s importance is made clear to the public. Armed Forces formations and units in certain locations also organise variety shows, carnivals, plays, and other entertainment events.
• The KendriyaSainik Board distributes token flags and car stickers in the colours red, deep blue, and light blue to the general population around the nation to represent the three Services.
• The contributions made by Army, Navy, and Air Force troops are commemorated.
• Every citizen of our nation has a responsibility to ensure the rehabilitation and wellbeing of the loved ones of our courageous martyrs and handicapped service members.

Public donations are accepted all throughout the year. Account payee checks made out to “Armed Forces Flag Day Fund” should be sent to the Kendriya Sainik Board, Ministry of Defence, West Block IV, Wing-VII, 2nd Floor, RK Puram, New Delhi, 110066. Armed Forces Flag Day Fund Tax Exemption Percentage

Contributions to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund are 50% free from income tax under section 80 G (5) (vi) of the Income Tax Act of 1961, as confirmed by Director of Income Tax (E) letter No. NQ.DIT (E) | 2010-11/DEL-AE22280-04012011/2186 dated January 4, 2011.

Armed Forces Flag Day Fund Kendriya Sainik Board

The management of the AFFDF is the responsibility of the Kendriya Sainik Board. A Managing Committee, led by Hon’ble Governor/Lt Governor at the State/UT level and Hon’ble Raksha Mantri at the Center, manages the AFFDF. A network of Rajya Sainik Boards (RSBs) and Zila Sainik Boards (ZSBs) co-located in the State Capitals and District HQs, respectively, across the nation, is used by the Kendriya Sainik Board (KSB), an apex body of the Government of India, to develop and manage various welfare and rehabilitation programmes for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and their dependents. The Armed Forces Flag Day Fund (AFFDF), which was established via Gazette of India notification No 5(1) /92/US(WE)/D (Res) dated 13 Apr 1993, provides funding for these welfare programmes. This fund was created by combining the following funds into one new fund known as the “Armed Forces Flag Day Fund.”

• Amalgamated Special Fund for war bereaved, war disabled and other ESM/serving personnel
• Armed Forces Flag Day Fund
• St.Dunstan’s (India) and Kendriya Sainik Board Fund
• Indian Gorkha Ex-Servicemen’s Welfare Fund.
