Good day, everyone! Being a part of such a joyous occasion is an honour and a privilege. Greetings, my name is XYZ. Today is Police Appreciation Day.

I am grateful for the opportunity to dedicate the National Police Memorial, which represents eternal stories of service and dedication to the nation. The central structure of this memorial represents every police officer’s capability, valour, service, and emotions.

Every year on October 21, India commemorates Police Commemoration Day. The day is observed to remember and honour the brave police officers who have died in the line of duty.

Police Commemoration Day commemorates the day in 1959 when twenty Indian soldiers were attacked by Chinese troops in Ladakh’s Hot Spring area, killing ten and imprisoning seven. Since then, October 21 has been designated as Police Commemoration Day in honour of the martyrs.

This is a day set aside to honour the spirits of police officers and their families, as well as brave police officers who died while fighting for the country. It is observed to honour and motivate police officers who perform their duties with utmost diligence. It is often seen that the contribution made by the police force is looked upon, so this day serves as a reminder to pay their respects to the nation’s police force.

Every year on Police Commemoration Day, several police departments from different cities hold parades. The most impressive parade of the day is held in the national capital by the Delhi Police Force. So, try to attend your local police department’s parade, or go to the capital during this time to see the Delhi police force’s parade.

I’d like to end my speech by thanking them for their service and dedication and sending you my best wishes.

Thank You

Long Speech on Police Commemoration Day

Use the long Police Commemoration Day Speech in English provided below to help you write a Speech on Police Commemoration Day.

Good day, everyone! Hello, my name is XYZ. Today is Police Commemoration Day. Every year on October 21, the Police Commemoration Day commemorates the sacrifices of ten police officers killed in Chinese firing in 1959.

Chinese soldiers opened fire and threw grenades at a group of 20 police officers. The incident killed ten people and injured seven others, who were later imprisoned. Three weeks later, China returned the ten personnel’s bodies, which were later cremated with full police honours at Hot Springs in North Eastern Ladakh. Until the autumn of 1959, police officers were in charge of guarding India’s 2,500-mile border with Tibet.

On October 21, 1959, it is believed that China launched its first attack on India in the Aksai Chin region. The People’s Liberation Army of China allegedly attacked the Intelligence Bureau and the Central Reserve Police Force (C.R.P.F) of India, killing ten police officers and imprisoning seven others. As a tribute to these lost lives, this day was established on October 21st to coincide with this incident.

According to official accounts from the time, three reconnaissance parties were launched the day before from Ladakh as part of an Indian expedition to Lanak La. Only two of these parties, however, returned. The following morning, D.C.I.O Shri Karam Singh led a search party of 20 personnel from the Intelligence Bureau and the C.R.P.F. to look for the missing party. They rode their horses, while the rest of the personnel followed on foot. The Chinese army opened fire and threw grenades at Singh’s party in the afternoon, killing 10, capturing seven, and injuring the remaining men, who fortunately managed to flee.

The bodies of these martyred cops were released by Chinese forces almost a month later, on November 28, 1959. They were then cremated with full police honours in Ladakh’s Hot Springs. Along with the widespread anger that swept the country, there was also overwhelming gratitude for the valiant soldiers who fought until the bitter end. Later, in January 1960, at the annual Conference of Inspectors General of Police of States and Union Territories, October 21 was declared “Commemoration Day” in honour of these brave officers.

This day not only honours the martyrs of the 1959 incident, but also pays tribute to all of the police officers in the country who have been martyred since India gained independence from the British. This day honours all police officers who have died in the line of duty throughout the nation’s history. The police force has played a critical role in every conflict in the nation’s history, and their contribution must be recognised.

There are also many organisations working to help the police forces, particularly those that provide assistance to the families of martyrs, so this is an opportunity for you to look for such organisations and then help these organisations by extending a little support to them in the form of funds and donations to help them run their operations as they require monetary assistance.

I’d like to end my speech by thanking you for your service and dedication and sending you my best wishes.
