  • Number of Phases- SSC CHSL has three phases (Tier I-III). Tier-I is a CBT, Tier-II is a descriptive paper, and Tier-II is a Skill Test. SSC MTS has 2 phases (CBT and Descriptive Test).
  • Negative Marking- SSC CHSL has a negative marking of 0.5 while SSC MTS has that of 0.25.
  • CBT- The subjects included for CBT of CHSL are General Intelligence, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Language. While for the MTS exam, CBT includes the subjects of Intelligence Reasoning, Numerical Aptitude, English, and General Knowledge.
  • Descriptive Paper- The descriptive paper of SSC CHSL is conducted for 100 marks which includes essay writing and application letter (English/Hindi). The descriptive paper of SSC MTS is conducted for 50 marks which include 2 questions of essay/letter writing in English or any other language of the 8th schedule of the Constitution.
