After two half-centuries in 2009, Kohli finished the year with his first international century, a 107 against Sri Lanka in Kolkata.

He followed that up with three tonnes in 2010, including one against Bangladesh in an ODI in January and two more against Australia and New Zealand in ODIs late in the year.

Kohli scored a century* against Bangladesh in Dhaka during the World Cup year, and after the tournament, he recorded his first tonne outside the subcontinent in Cardiff against England.

Between 2014 and 2016, Kohli scored 19 centuries and established himself as the world's best batsman across all formats.

Virat Kohli had a record-breaking year in international cricket in 2017 and 2018, recording 22 international hundreds, including 10 in Test cricket alone.

Virat Kohli ended his two-year drought of not scoring a century in international cricket by smashing an unbeaten 122 runs off 61 balls against Afghanistan during an Asia Cup T20 2022 match.
