Statue of Unity India Facts

When plinths are considered, the Statue of Unity is roughly four times the height of New York's famous Statue of Liberty.

The statue cost about $430 million (29.9 billion rupees) to build.

Around 12,000 bronze panels weighing approximately 1,700 tonnes cover the structure.

The statue towers over the Spring Temple Buddha in Henan, China, which was previously the world's tallest statue at 420 feet.

Visitors can climb 500 feet to reach a viewing gallery near the statue's chest.

Over 2,000 Indian workers, as well as several hundred Chinese labourers, helped with the construction.
