Artemis I is an unmanned mission to the Moon that will be the first in a series of increasingly complex missions that will eventually return humans to Earth's lone satellite.
NASA will demonstrate the performance and capabilities of its most powerful launch vehicle, the Space Launch System (SLS), as well as the Orion crew capsule, during the mission.
During the six-week mission, SLS and Orion will travel approximately 65,000 kilometres to the Moon and back.
The Artemis 1 launch mission has been halted due to a malfunctioning engine, and the next possible launch date is September 2.
