Good morning to everyone who is here! On this special occasion of Vijay Diwas, I’d like to say a few words and remind everyone of our Indian Army’s bravery and sacrifices during the war.

Vijay Diwas commemorates the 1971 victory over Pakistan, which resulted in the formation of Bangladesh and the liberation of East Pakistan. Since the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947, there has been animosity between the two countries for a variety of reasons. One of these reasons concerned East Pakistan. The events leading up to the 1971 war prompted Indian troops to intervene; non-Muslims living in West Pakistan were being targeted, necessitating intervention.

The war between Pakistan and India lasted 13 days, ending on December 16, 1971, with the liberation of a new country called Bangladesh. It was India’s front that forced nearly 93 thousand Pakistani soldiers to surrender and altered the contours of the world map.

This was a proud moment for the Indian army because it was their first decisive victory since World War II ended. It is also a significant day for Bangladesh, as it has achieved independence. In Bangladesh, the day is known as ‘Bijoy Dibos.’
