Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana: A scheme exclusively for pregnant and breastfeeding women launched in 2017. The honorable Prime Minister of India launched this scheme on 31st December 2016. Later, it came into effect on 1st January 2017. As the name suggests, the scheme is for the benefit of mothers. On 10th September 2013, the Parliament of India passed the National Food Security Act. According to the act, the Government has to ensure suitable quantity and quality of food for the citizens. To comply with this, the Government introduced the PMMVY scheme. With the aim of ensuring sufficient nutrition for pregnant mothers and making up for the lost wages, the Government transfers Rs. 5000 to their bank accounts.
