Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana: A scheme exclusively for pregnant and breastfeeding women launched in 2017. The honorable Prime Minister of India launched this scheme on 31st December 2016. Later, it came into effect on 1st January 2017. As the name suggests, the scheme is for the benefit of mothers. PMMVY Scheme Importance

On 10th September 2013, the Parliament of India passed the National Food Security Act. According to the act, the Government has to ensure suitable quantity and quality of food for the citizens. To comply with this, the Government introduced the PMMVY scheme. With the aim of ensuring sufficient nutrition for pregnant mothers and making up for the lost wages, the Government transfers Rs. 5000 to their bank accounts.

PMMVY Scheme Eligibility

Women who are pregnant and were expecting their first child on or after 1st January 2017 are eligible for the scheme. In addition to this, the following Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana eligibility criteria have to be fulfilled.

• The beneficiary must register their pregnancy early
• Mother should get their examination done
• Registration of the child’s birth
• First immunization of the family’s first child should be done

PMMVY Scheme Registration

The following things are important while filling out the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana form.

• Registration at an AWC/approved health facility must be done
• Beneficiaries must include their own and their husband’s Aadhar numbers and written consents in the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana form
• Mobile number of their own and their husband/family member’s along with the bank account/post office data is mandatory
• You can get the PMMVY forms for free from the AWC/approved health facility. As an alternative, visit the official website of the Ministry of Women and Child Development for the forms
• Submission of the registration form and installment claim has to be done to the Anganwadi Centre/approved health institution. Post submission, you will receive an acknowledgment form. Save it for future reference
• The beneficiary will have to submit the Form 1-A and a copy of the Mother and Child Protection Card, Identity Proof (of the beneficiary and their husband), bank account/post office details for claiming the first installment
• Form 1-B is for the second installment along with the MCP card showing minimum once ANC
• Finally, for the third installment, submit the Form 1-C along with the birth certificate of the child and a copy of the MCP that states that the child has been through the first immunization cycle
