The IIMs are not only the top-ranked management institutes in India in numerous rankings and polls but they are also designated by the government as Institutions of National Importance. In India, there are 20 IIMs that provide MBA, PGP, PGDM, Executive MBA, and Fellowship programmes.
Admission to the IIMs’ MBA/PGP programmes is based on the institutes’ Common Admission Test (CAT). GMAT scores are allowed for several EPGP courses. Check out the list of IIMs in India below.

IIMs are India’s top choice for 2-year MBA programmes, Managerial Executive Programs for working people, Doctorate Programs, and research. IIMs conduct a Common Admission Test, or CAT, for admission to their MBA or management programmes. The CAT is administered by IIMs once a year, in November.

In the MHRD-NIRF Rankings 2021, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta is rated third. IIM Calcutta was founded in 1961 and provides three management programmes: Full Time, Executive, and Fellow. The most well-known programme at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore is the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management. The Government of India has recognized the institute as an Institute of National Importance, and it is among India’s top five management schools. In 1984, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow was founded. IIM Lucknow is the first IIM to open a satellite campus in another city, offering multiple PGP, EPGP, and Fellow programmes (Noida). It presently provides a variety of postgraduate and doctorate management programmes. The two-year, full-time, residential PGP is IIM Lucknow’s flagship programme, leading to the award of a PGDM degree upon completion.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode, which was founded in 1997, has consistently grown in popularity and educational quality over the years, which is why it is rated 4th in the MHRD-NIRF Ranking 2021, ahead of several top business schools that were founded much previously. PGP, EPGP, and Fellow programmes are available at IIM Kozhikode. The Government of India and the State Government of Kerala collaborated to build the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode in 1996. The institute is located in Kerela and covers an area of 112.5 acres. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2020 ranked IIM Kozhikode 6th out of 100 best management institutes in India.
